When you look for a price-quote for office furniture installation, it helps to know what the industry standard assumptions are. At Bay Area Installations, we never hide the ball when providing pricing - our prices are fair, transparent, and give you the most value possible.

Here are a few things to consider when looking to quote an installation:

1. Work Hours. 9-5 are standard work hours. Typically installs might start a bit earlier 8am or so. But if an install is going to happen during "regular business hours" you should expect it to fall in the 9-5 timeframe. For some customers, this is impossible - they keep abnormal hours, or they are unable to accommodate a workday interruption - or simply because their building won't allow installation work during the day. In these cases, make sure to ask for an "off hours", "overtime" or "after hours" quote. If your quote does not specify, it will be assumed that the work is do be done during "normal hours".

2. Elevator Access. Where is the furniture going? If it is going to the 22nd floor, there had better be a freight elevator available for use. Delivery and installation jobs are quoted assuming that the product does not have to be carried up stairs. If there is no elevator, an installer will always charge additional for the stair carry. It doesn't look good if you didn't tell the installer that there was a stair carry, and then they show up and see the two flights they have to carry the 10' conference table up. This will result in surprise charges to your customer, and an unhappy installation company. Always make sure that you check for elevator access and note it in bold if a stair carry is anticipated.

3. Construction Zone. We know how large projects go - timelines are tight and there isn't always a firm end to one phase before the next phase begins. Thus we often find ourselves installing office furniture into partially completed buildings (we don't recommend this, but sometimes it is necessary). However - be advised that installing in a construction zone is incredibly difficult and frustrating. It requires the use of Personal Protection Equipment ("P.P.E."), it requires negotiating our way through other trades, it requires sharing hallways, elevators and loading docks. Thus if we quote a project, we are assuming a "free and clear" work area. If this is not the case, please let us know ahead of time to avoid extra charges.

At Bay Area Installations, we work with customers to find a price that works for everyone. Communication is essential in this process, and we look forward to our next call from you.
